For one night, FHS students traded homework, deadlines, and stress for dresses, tuxes, music, and way too many pictures at this year’s “Starry Night” prom. The night brought juniors and seniors together to celebrate one of high school’s biggest traditions before the school year starts winding down.
Before prom even officially started, students were already all over Franklin taking pictures with friends and dates. Downtown, front porches, fields, sidewalks, honestly anywhere with decent lighting turned into a photo spot. Social media was flooded with dress reveals, promposal posts, and group pictures throughout the night, and almost everyone seemed determined to get at least one perfect photo before arriving.

Once students made it to the venue, the decorations completely changed the atmosphere. Lights and star-themed decorations filled the room and made the night feel more put together than a normal school event. One of the biggest highlights of the evening was Low Tide performing during prom. Seeing classmates up on stage once again instead of just hearing another playlist over speakers gave the night a more personal feel and kept the dance floor packed for most of the evening.
Outside of dancing, students spent the night moving between games, food, conversations with friends, and the photo booth, which stayed crowded almost the entire time. The games got surprisingly competitive at certain points, and the food actually got good reviews from students, which honestly says a lot for a school event.
For seniors especially, the night felt a little bittersweet since it was their final prom before graduation. Still, the night was less about decorations or outfits and more about getting to spend time together before another school year comes to an end. By the end of the night, most students left with tired feet, full camera rolls, and memories they’ll probably talk about long after graduation.
