Girls softball is underway for the season. With only a couple games under their belt I asked a senior on the team all about this season. Here are the teams and scores of the first couple games they have played so far. Rochester mayo 17-2, Northfield 5-6, Shakopee 3-4. I asked her what she thinks of the start of their season so far. “It’s definitely not the start we wanted. But, it’s only the beginning of the season and we have a lot of work to do to complete our goals for the season.” I asked what they are most excited for this season. “Playing as a team and working our way to get to state.” The girls took home the first state title in the schools history in 2017 and has been a goal to get there ever since. That goal is very important to the team, I asked what they plan to do to get to that place again. “Come to practice working hard and focused. We need to work on our offense especially. We have to focus on the mechanics, and learn how to make adjustments to the better pitchers in our conference.” I asked what advice she has for the younger players. “To have fun and make the most of it because it goes by so fast.” With being one of five seniors this season is very important to her. I asked what her personal goal is. “I want to have as much fun as possible, but my ultimate goal is to finish my senior year by going to state.” Everyone at the school is very excited and hopeful for their softball team to reach their goal and make history again. The girls next game is April 15 against Lakeville North.
