Farmington Will Host Sections Gymnastics this Friday

Ally Keehn, Staff

For the first time ever, the annual sections gymnastics meet will take place at Farmington High School. Tigers will host section 1AA gymnasts on February 15th at 6:00pm. The Farmington varsity gymnasts are currently ranked third in their conference, and 18th in the state (class AA). When asked what the team needs to focus on for the upcoming sections meet, gymnast Lauren Eccles says, ” we need to focus and work our hardest this week at practice, with hard work we can compete more advanced skills.” Eccles has a person goal for the sections meet, she says, ” I want to compete floor and stick all of my tumbling passes.” All of the girls are excited to cheer each other on and possibly get a new season high score. Those attending the meet should keep an eye out for Maddie Ask, Kinsley Taylor, Libby Bolton and Nadia Eckert. These four gymnasts made the All-Section team, which means they have the top 4 average scores against all the gymnasts in their section. Farmington will be competing against 8 other teams; Owatonna, Northfield, Rosemount, Hastings, Rochester Mayo, Rochester John Marshall, Rochester Century, and Faribault. Farmingtons biggest competitors going into sections are Owatonna, Rosemount, and Northfield. The meet will take place in the main gym at Farmington High School. All gymnasts will arrive and start warm up at 1:30pm. The official competition will start at 6pm sharp. The cost to enter the competiton is $5 for students and $8 for adults. Congratulations to all of the gymnasts who made the sections team- names listed alphabetically as follows: Abigail Shearer, Ashleigh Buckman, Bailey Mcuddin, Hannah Sorenson, Isabelle Anderson, Kinsley Taylor, Lauren Eccles, Libby Bolton, Maddie Ask, Madeline Hins, Nadia Eckert, Olivia Grundman, Sarah McCormick. Good luck to all of these gymnasts competing on Friday!
