The Girls Gymnastics Season is off to a start December 9th, at Becker High School at 12 pm. This season is looking promising with returning seniors and the captains Sam Manyard, Lauren Slayton and Abby Schwartz. Each Individual team members will compete on events such as Vault, Beam, Floor and bars. They have been working hard during the off season to be prepared for this season and to make it to state.  I was able to talk to senior captain Lauren Slayton about this years season and what she is hoping for.

I asked her what her personal goals are this season, Lauren has made it to state before and will make her way back but this year her goal is to compete in as many events as she can at state.

I asked her what the teams goals are this season and she said ” Breaking as many records and making it as a team to state.”

Their team is looking promising and I asked her the chances of making it to state and she said ” I don’t want to jinx it, but I think we have a good chance as long as we can outwork every team in our section.”

I then asked her what they push the team to do and how it will make them better. She said ” We push the girls to give their all each day at practice/meets and to have positive attitudes in the gym and as captains we all really work on having good attitudes in and out of the gym too helping to have a positive influence on our team.”

Lauren said she believes all of the girls have a promising season and said that both junior varsity and varsity are some of the best in state.

Lauren said at the end of her senior season she wants to be able to look back and be able to say she put in all of the effort she could.

The Farmington Girls Gymnastics Team looks like they have a promising season coming up and would love to have many fans come this year. They have two home meets this year one being January 9th and  January 23rd. Lets get a student section going and help support!
