As college knowledge month came to a wrap at the end of October, many students at FHS made the most of it. Several offers such as free transcripts, college application help day, and the chance to win a mini fridge for your dorm room all happened throughout the month. Many colleges offered free applications for a week as well. Several workshops took place such as; common app process, community/tech college app help and essay writing help. It was an excellent way for students and especially seniors to get a head start on their college plans with any available help they may need. I talked to senior Elizabeth Auge about her experience with College Knowledge Month, she said “I think this was a great way to explore options and I got a ton of guidance which was super helpful.” Students are still enhancing future plans such as, the 10th and 11th graders took a pre-ACT this past week to help prepare them for the ACT in the spring. College visits still happen almost weekly where students have the chance to talk and listen to a representative talk about their college right here in our own high school at the college and career center. Military options are also available for visits. We are lucky to have all of the opportunities we do here at FHS!
