This week I got the chance to sit down and chat with Student Council President Maggie Mortimer, to find out more about Student Council. I was curious to learn more about what challenges Maggie has faced being president. Her response was “With having such a big council, you have to make sure that everyone is always communicating with each other. Also trying to get the whole school involved in activities that student council is putting on.” I then asked what her favorite part about student council was and she said, “Being able to connect with all the grade levels, working with people who come from different backgrounds, and coming together and create memorable events.” The student council goal for this year is to throw another school dance. Maggie told me that it will be very challenging because the school has a hard time adjusting to change. Her advice to the students at FHS is to “get involved! High school will be so much more memorable and excited if you participate and keep an open mind when trying new things.” On Monday student council had a successful trip to the Capital Division  Fall Conference, where they met with other councils and gathered many new ideas which they are excited to use here, at FHS.
