The final week of the regular season looked a lot like the rest of the season for the Farmington girls soccer team.

The Tigers continued to play low-scoring, close games regardless of who they were playing against. Last Tuesday they finally got into the win column in the South Suburban Conference with a 1-0shutout of Lakeville South. Two days later they traveled to first-place Lakeville North and lost a 1-0 heartbreaker on a penalty kick.
“We played them tough and only allowed four shots on goal. Defensively, we held them and shut down any attack from the middle of the field,” Farmington coach Tracie Randall said. “We hope to meet them again in section play.”

The defense, led by Leah Kiage, Natalie Lessert and Nicole Krebs, was even better against South. Seven shots got through to keeper Lexi Stanley, who made several acrobatic saves to preserve the shutout.

Shannon McKnight made a run through the middle of the field and scored the only goal of the game.

The tigers ended their season 4-9-4.
