The Farmington Boys Hockey team officially ended the season after their first section game to Lakeville North who is now headed to State at the Xcel. “It was a tough loss, definitely not the way we wanted it to end”, sophomore defense man, Logan Lukasezck recaps on the 5-3 loss. However, even with the tough loss and season, they somehow found a way to make something good out it, a family. “Throughout the season there were a lot of ups and downs but I think our captions did a good job guiding and pulling us together like a family, the seniors will definitely be missed.” Lukasezck ended the season with tears in his eyes as he said his goodbyes, touching the ice for the last time together with his teammates for the past two seasons. The seniors leaving include senior defense man Ethan Harvey, Cameron Rudrud, Brycen Dahms and senior forwards Mason Enright, Josh Ask, Quinn Rudrud and Zach Willis. “The seniors had the toughest time saying goodbye to everyone and even though we’ll see each other around, it’s really hard knowing you won’t have them next year skating with you.”

Even with the sad ending they had, it ended out very memorable. Their first tournament was in Thief Rivers falls at Ralph Engelstad Arena. “It was a good starting point for us to figure out what we still had to work on early in the season and get the new guys involved with us. It started the season for us going fast.” They stayed in a hotel where they spent time bonding, playing game and of course messing around, like pushing people in the pool.

They ended the season 5-17-3, however they got so much more that they could have ever one. Hockey is a team sport, which makes it important to have a good bond with your team and coaches. When asked about plans for next year, Lukasezck said, “we just need to play out game and work on the little things, because that’s where we’ll find the most success, on and off the ice.” Since they didn’t end the way they wanted at the Xcel playing in the state tournament, they are gunning for that goal next year.
