“Teamwork, Integrity, Perseverance, and sportsmanship.” The boys baseball team has many things to be proud of this season, as a team and with many individuals. I got to talk to Varsity coach Corey Smith, and Jon Graff who has many good things to say about their team and why there so proud of them, some of the many reasons began with “the sweep over Burnsville this season, Smith say “Burnsville was top in the conference last year.” Graff tells me that in the Burnsville game Brady Bean and Aydan Lewis “both pitched complete games, and only allowed a combined 5 hits, 4 walks, and 3 earned runs! Our offense also pounded 17 hits and 10 runs!” (10-3)! Captain Brady Bean also said “Our team had a great highpoint during the double-header with Burnsville, Because we won both games and did well in all aspects.” Bean says “it’s great because it really showed our potential as a team. That’s not the only thing that has shown Farrington’s potential as a team this season Coach Smith also tells me “ being able to take Lakeville North into extra innings really gets us ready for sections and knows they can compete with the best, being that North was 1st in the preseason, and potential state players.” During the lakeville North game the guys couldn’t get a win, with lakeville North winning (4-2) in 8 innings and (11-3) the highlight was all on pitcher Zach Jakubowsky who pitched 6 ⅓ strong innings in the first game. Even when the guys haven’t played a game to such a higher level they still stay motivated because they know there’s more games and positivity is such a big trait the boys baseball team has had this season, with playing double headers, and having to practice in the gym the boys have made the best of their season and kept a positive attitude. Graff tells me “ no matter the errors made in games the boys have played hard, battled to the end, continue to get better, support each other, and focus on what we can control” he also says “the effort they put forth on a daily basis, I believe, will help us make a run here at the end of the season and into sections. Were still a tough team and can compete with anyone,” captain Mikey Fredrickson agrees and also says “we just have to keep our head up and stay confident. Trust the process and get back after it next game.” he also says “luck doesn’t always go your way but there will be a time when you will get a break so we just have to be patient.” Captain Adam Weed also tells me that “over the last few years the guys hitting has gotten better which goes into helping the pitchers on becoming better as well.” the pitchers are not the only thing with a highlight! Senior catcher Mikey Fredrickson “has been tremendous for us! We have played double headers this year which can really take a toll on kids, especially catchers. Each day Mikey goes behind the plate and plays lights out… He’s the hardest worker out there and has thrown out at least 8 runners on the bases. He’s really had a great year for us, as not only his playing as been spectacular, but hit pitch calling as well. He handles our pitching staff quite well.” Graff tells me.   With sections Approaching I can say the boys baseball team is very much excited. Weed says “ Games really count here and the pressures on!” Bean Tells me “ We can get into the groove and keep it rolling and hopefully do some damage,” Fredrickson tells me “i’m really looking forward to sections because of how well we’ve been competing against some of the top teams in the state.” Good luck to our boys as they head into the playoff season, looking to do some “damage”.
