Every year, Franklin High School hosts a homecoming dance in addition to the homecoming football game and spirit week. This year’s dance, planned by student council, was themed “Rio Glo,” and was held this past Saturday from eight to ten thirty PM in the FHS cafeteria.
Homecoming is a large part of Panther student culture. Students’ support and school spirit towards the homecoming tradition is what has made it such a paramount part of student culture that is looked forward to every year.
From the elaborate homecoming proposals to submitting your vote for homecoming court, homecoming provides a place for every student niche, whether it’s the members of student council who help with the behind the scenes aspect, the members of student leadership who make our homecoming spirit week an exciting experience for students, the members of the homecoming court who were proud to have represented our school, or the students who show pride in being a panther from the student section.
It’s also an opportunity for students to take a break from their fall semester slump and have a night of fun amongst their peers.
The dance was a night of fun for students to dress to the nines and come together to celebrate. If you were able to attend the Rio Glo dance, you would’ve seen a sea of students dancing, eating and enjoying each other’s company.
Even just from seeing everyone’s pictures and hearing stories from the night, anyone can tell that this year’s homecoming was one to remember.
I think I can speak for most students when I say, we’re already looking forward to next year’s homecoming season.
