When you think of a principal, you probably think of a strict man waiting for any opportunity to give you a one-way ticket to ISS.
And why wouldn’t you? Our whole lives we look at the TV and see principals depicted as old men who hate everyone, but after any conversation with Mr.King, you can see how down to earth he really is. He isn’t the stereotypical TV principal.
After graduating from high school with a 2.4 GPA, Mr. King had no interest in going into the teaching field. It wasn’t until going to Maryville College that made him change his mind. At Maryville College, Mr.King met a professor, Dr. Pierce.
Dr. Pierce took the time and effort to change Mr.King’s life, and his whole idea of what his future would look like. “He invested in me the way I wish someone would have done when I was real little,” King says.
By the end of his time at Maryville, Mr.King graduated with a 3.9 GPA, and decided to become an educator so he could “give back” like Dr. Pierce did.
While Mr. King’s path to becoming an educator shows the serious and determined side of FHS’s principal, he also has a lighter side that students might not expect, especially when it comes to the classic movie series Back to the Future.

For him, it’s more than just entertainment. Back to the Future is a mix of science fiction and imagination that he has loved for decades. From the role of Marty McFly, played by Michael Fox, to the awesome DeLorean, Mr. King says “I love movies that help you escape, and that’s what this movie does.”
So when you see Mr King around school, don’t be afraid to ask him about his favorite movies or give him a high-five; he would love to talk to you.
