After their debut at Prom 2025, Franklin High School’s very own band Low Tide has been taking over the town. Marley Dillard got the chance to sit down with them at the Macon County Fair this last week where they were invited to perform to learn a bit about the members. Here’s what they had to say:
Question: Can you introduce yourselves?
Answer: Low Tide— “We are Low Tide! We’re a small band composed of Garron Hope (Grade 12) on guitar, Will Rogers (Grade 11) on the bass guitar, Elias Peak (Grade 11) playing piano, and Christian Templeman (Grade 11) on drums.”
Q: So, tell me a few things about your band. What is your favorite band memory?
A: Low Tide— “We would have to say our experience in the Green Room of the Ramsey Center at Western. We played at graduation for the class of 2025 last year, and had a great time! We had our own band name printed on the wall, and it was really cool! A bunch of other bands like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi have been in that exact room, too, so it was a very cool experience.”
Q: Christian, since we’re at the fair, do you think the farm animals complement your music?
A: Christian— “In my opinion, they don’t because some of our music isn’t really country. It might fit with some songs, but not many.”
Q: Garron, who is your biggest musical influence?
A: Garron— “Oh, I’d say Elvis Presley. He’s always been part of my life. He’s influenced my whole music career in every way, shape, and form. He got me into guitar, got me into singing, he even got me into my flashy outfits and jewelry. Everything I’d ever want to do musically is because of Elvis Presley, King of Rock and Roll, the greatest.”
Q: Will, if you could play any other instrument, what would it be and why?
A: Will— “If I could play any other instrument, I would like to play the pipe organ. It’s such a cool instrument. It sounds dark and very magnetic. It’s definitely awesome-sauce.”
Q: Now to our final member, Elias. Elias, what inspired the band name?
A: Elias— “Nothing really inspired it. We had an original name, VomitCoffin, but it was too much of a metal band name so we decided to look up a few names. The first name we agreed on was Low Tide, even if it doesn’t fit our band vibe. We wanted to change it at some point, but since we’ve been Low Tide for about six or seven months, we’ve decided to keep it.”
Low Tide will be performing around Franklin throughout the 2025-2026 school year, and fans can expect to see them once again at prom in the Spring.
